For the fourth time awards have been given in a prestigious competition Director of Finance of the Year, organized by Euler Hermes in cooperation with the Polish Institute of Directors and ACCA. The main distinction for the achievements in the year 2008 received Tadeusz Piotr Kozaczyński, Vice President and Director of Finance of Trakcja Polska S.A.
 
During the gala which took place on 6th of May 2009 at the Warsaw Hyatt hotel awards have been given to directors of finance who in the previous year achieved the best results, and stood out showing remarkable ethics and professionalism. The „Director of Finance of the Year 2008” became Tadeusz Piotr Kozaczyński, Vice President and Director of Finance of Trakcja Polska SA. Mr Kozaczynski is also ACCA Affiliate. Two other distinctions were also given to: Przemysław Milczarka, Vice President of Finance of Energomontaż-Północ SA, and Sergiey Krasulenko, Director of Finance of ISD Polska (Industrial Union of Donbass).

„The fourth edition of the competition „Director of Finance of the Year” took place in a specific situation. The global crisis of trust has undermined the belief in the truthfulness of financial data provided by corporations to the participants of the markets. In this situation the Chapter of the competition had to be up to a significantly difficult challenge: select from amongst the group of candidates a director of finance who would distinguish himself with remarkable achievements in his position – and at the same time in a responsible manner assess the credibility of the prize-winners and the distinctions” – said Andrzej S. Nartowski, the Chairman of the Chapter of the Competition, President of the Polish Institute of Directors.

The Winners

Tadeusz Piotr Kozaczyński, Vice President and Director of Finance of Trakcja Polska SA was appreciated for good financial results of the company in the year 2008, increase of the scale of its activities, improvement of its efficiency, reduction of debts, and entering the Stock Exchange.
About the distinction for Przemysław Milczarek, Vice President of Finance of Energomontaż-Północ SA decided good financial results of the company in the year 2008, its financial discipline, improvement of profitability achieved through the cost control, increase of credit reliability of the company whose activities not long ago were seriously threatened. Mr. Sergiey Krasulenko, Director of Finance of ISD Polska (Industrial Union of Donbass) was honoured for running a sustainable financial policy thanks to which the Group Grupa ISD Polska achieved in 2008 increase of income. Important was also the fact that the past years brought significant investments and restructuring in the dependant company ISD Huta Częstochowa steelworks. 

„Making the decisions about granting the awards and distinctions, the Chapter took into consideration primarily professional achievements, professionalism, and ethics of the laureates. All winners are the people who managed cope with challenges that they came across. Time at which they happened to operate required from them activeness, inventiveness, and courage in taking the risks” – said Krzysztof Chechłacz, President of the Board of Management of an insurance company Towarzystwo Ubezpieczeń Euler Hermes.

A debate about the economy

The gala of the Directors of finance was preceded by a congress concerning the condition of the Polish and world economy. The international guests and the elite of the polish high finance sought effective manners of managing enterprises a time of the world crisis.
Amongst the speakers was a former Minister of Finance Mirosław Gronicki, Karine Berger – the Chief of the analysis department from the Paris head office of Euler Hermes, Mariusz Hildebrandt – President of the Board of Management of InfoMonitor Biuro Informacji Gospodarczej (the Economic Information Bureau), Michał Powałowski, Director of the Credit Risk Management Department in ING Commercial Finance, Bartosz Pikuła, a lawyer from the Risk and Defalcation Insurance Office in Euler Hermes, and Dominik Adamski, a senior manager in a consulting company KPMG. The speeches and discussions were observed by almost 300 guests.

The Congress and the Gala „Director of Finance of the Year 2008” were organized by: Euler Hermes, Polish Institute of Directors and ACCA. The audit care over the competition was conducted by the consulting company KPMG. The strategic patronage was taken by ING, InfoMonitor Biuro Informacji Gospodarczej (the Economic Information Bureau), Centrum Informacji Gospodarczej (the Economic Information Centre), Biuro Informacji Kredytowej (Credit Information Bureau). The group of partners supporting the undertaking included: W. KRUK, Vistula, Ballantine’s and Citroen.
