Guinness world record

Financiers and Chefs for Children

On Saturday, 17 November 2007, the Charity Event aimed at helping children suffering from cancer was held in the Golden Terraces (Zlote Tarasy) shopping mall. The project was organized by ACCA, the world's largest organization bringing together finance and accounting specialists.

Financiers, watched closely by chefs, broke the Guinness world record in creating the largest edible mosaic - the euro symbol made of sushi. The mosaic consisted of 3,874 rice balls and reached the size of 4.84 square metres. To prepare it, 40 kilograms of rice, 12 kilograms of salmon and 9 kilograms of radishes were used. The official measurement was performed by Prof. Witold Orlowski.

The event was accompanied by interviews with chefs, artists and sponsors who supported the project. Numerous attractions were held for children, including contests with prizes.

"We used the Guinness record in creating the largest edible euro symbol as a pretext for these two professional groups, financiers and chefs, to take concerted action for the benefit of children suffering from cancer.

What we wanted to show was that persons managing large sums of money in their companies on a daily basis could cooperate with other professional groups and have great fun doing it.

This is what we believe professionalism of every socially responsible professional group is about."

The Income from the charity event is being used to help children suffering from cancer, treated on the oncology ward of the Paediatrics, Haematology and Oncology Department and Teaching Hospital at ul. Marszałkowska 24 in Warsaw.

The event wrap-up was held on 7 December 2007 at the ACCA Graduation Ceremony. During the event, an auction of items belonging to famous chefs and artists were sold.
